Morgan Run End to End Hiking Trip; Morgan Run Natural Environment Area, MD 8 March, 2008
This hike was in Morgan Run Natural Environment Area (MRNEA) in the piedmont uplands of central Maryland. The route consisted of a loop traverse of Morgan Run valley totaling ~10 mi. The footpath was unmarked on mainly YDS class-II terrain, and at times travel was off trail (bushwack). The route involved one stream crossing, over Morgan Run. As is common in this region, a thorny understory was predominant near the valley floor and mountain laurel flourished on the often steep hillsides. Click here for complete trip report.

To those hearty eight DC Conservation volunteers and guests who joined leaders Mary Ann and Paul Ray, a great big thank you for being a part of our first 2008 conservation effort in Virginia. This was a glorious Spring day to be doing so, with the temperature topping out at 57 and a light breeze. We all actually started the day in fleeces, but many shed them. Those present in addition to the leaders were Christa Watters, Debra Stachnik, Christl Reutzler, Ben Ripman, Joanne McKervy, Michael Nagamoto, John Pink, and Ashley Hansen Click here for complete trip report.
